Life Science Conference 2017 : Accelerating growth, driving innovation

Ls Conf 2017

Organiser: The Scotsman Conferences

Date: 21 Nov 2017

Venue: Technology and Innovation Centre, University of Strathclyde, 99 George Street, Glasgow, United Kingdom

Scotland is already a global life sciences cluster, with more than 700 different organisations based here, and it continues to grow through inward investment and innovation.

Around £300 million has been invested over the past three years by companies including Capsugel, GSK, Johnson Matthey, Piramal Healthcare, Quotient and ThermoFisher Scientific. Wide-ranging innovation – from the smallest SMEs to the largest PLCs – is driving further growth.

The Life Sciences Strategy, launched in February 2017, aims to harness the outstanding achievements of the sector and to create a clear and collaborative blueprint to take the sector through to 2025 – and increase its industrial turnover from £4.3 billion to £8 billion. Developed by the Life Sciences Scotland Industry Leadership Group, the strategy concentrates on four key areas:

  • Sustainable production;
  • Innovation and commercialisation;
  • Internationalisation;
  • The business environment

At this conference, significant players in the Scottish life sciences community will examine each of the areas, with a focus on growth, innovation and ambition. How do we create the right business environment for large and small companies to thrive, how do we take products and processes from Scotland into global markets and how do we best harness innovation and commercialisation to drive growth – and how do we do all this sustainably?

This is a major life sciences event bringing all the sector’s key players together.
